Workers aligned with corporate culture

By Raúl Gorrín.-      For companies, it is important that their workers conform to that corporate culture and in fact is one of the demands that they usually make, but this doesn’t mean that the employee should abandon their own convictions to assume as their own the organization. Whoever arrives in a company should assume the policies and adapt to them, unless they are hiring to change them and establish new rules in the organization.

The corporate culture sets rules that workers have to follow and relate with the client according to the rules that are marked.  We talk about working together to achieve the goals of the organization. The internal criticism should be welcomed every time if it is constructive. Likewise, the worker needs to maintain a proactive activity that heads-up him to make proposals and contributions to reach those results.

The organization should have pay attention to comments that are part of the development and business growth. Not always the vision of the directive is the most appropriate and rarely the decision in executive meeting doesn’t adapt to the reality that the workers live day by day. That’s why workers have to be taken into account by the bosses, to attend their proposals.

It is up to the middle management to assume an attitude of voice that makes easy the communication among the top management and the workers and technical employees. It should be empathy, willingness to dialogue so the business culture really can respond to the reality and authentic needs of the organization. Business culture can’t become a source of discord but of understanding. The top management and the workers need to push in the same direction, but that direction is product of the collective agreement.

Advices for a good and comfortable work in front the computer/laptop

By Raúl Gorrín.-      Surely your work is done through your computer in the office or from your home under the modality of telecommuting. Anyway, if you work in from a computer, you will probably have to do these types of responsibilities such as:  work via e-mail, video conferencing, social networks and so on. Of course, you spend a good part of the day (more than you should).

In the eyes of those who see it, you are an expert in the management of all this technology. Now, I have an important question, do you use your computer correctly? And  I talking about more than the  programs use that we want to refer to their behavior in front of the computer, because a proper use of your computer / laptop can increase your productivity and health. So, take a look of these useful recommendations.

1)      Check the posture of your body while you are working. It is IMPORTANT to adopt the correct position to prevent cervical problems, back or headaches. However, spending long hours of immobility produces circulatory problems and sedentary lifestyle increases the risk of a heart attack. Some furniture can be adapted to work, but if you can’t access to this type of furniture, it is prudent to use some postures that can help you maintain your health.

2)      Take breaks, every 25 minutes and take breaks that last five minutes. Rest your eyes by looking at distant points every ten minutes in order to relax your eyes. During these breaks do a different activity, walk, take a snack and so on.

3)      The computer screen should be at eye level, avoid tilting up or down.

4)      The position of the keyboard should be at a 90 degree angle to your body.

5)      Work in a comfortable chair where you can adopt a straight back position and legs at right angles.

6)      Make adjustments to the brightness of your screen and according to the time of day you work.

7)      If you work alone, take advantage of the moments of rest to exchange with other people. This will increase your mood.

8)      Learn the typing technique so you do not have to look at the keyboard as you type, this will result in greater speed and less fatigue.

Not all the workers have the same motivation and interest

By Raúl Gorrín.-  When we are evaluated, there is almost never talk about expectations and motivations that we have as employees. As workers, companies are sometimes annually evaluated, but these are based mainly on quantitative results and competencies examination and in others, they set a goal for the future as improvement points and deadlines for compliance.

Managers in charge of management in small and large companies, should find out what are the particular needs that motivate us. For example, some workers only seek to meet recognition needs, if this is the case, our superiors should see the possibility of designing mechanisms to show appreciation for the work done well, and as a result, show their satisfaction for good compliance and reward us for it.

If we have a desire for professional development, it is convenient that we suggest training courses through the design of a career plan that allows us to achieve the goals that we ambition inside the position scheme of the company. If there are other employees with a desire for achievement, the organization can consider achieving goals that create a professional challenge and reward us for achieving them, because we don’t share the same interests. In addition, according to the life evolution our motivations are changing. Not all of us have the same interests.

If human resource managers know exactly what are the vital objectives, motivations and design strategies the involvement and motivation will be highest and our contribution to the business objectives will be guaranteed. There are basic needs in which workers want to be recognized, cared for and evaluated such as safety, love, esteem and self-realization. Moreover, we are motivated by the desire to achieve and maintain the various conditions on which these satisfactions are based and more intellectual desires for personal and professional improvement.
