Gorrín.- Contacts are the key in the business world. In social networks, apart
from good personal relationships, good business can also be created. Business
networking is a necessity and shouldn’t be far from ethics and good practices.
How can we use contacts correctly? The
relationships depend on the type of networking that is practiced. There are
three prototypes of relationships: for utility, for pleasure and for authentic
friendship.
1)
Utility: is to obtain benefits such as money or power.
2)
Pleasure: is to enjoy the interactions
3)
Authentic friendship: is directed to meet the needs of other people for a
laudable cause.
For
networking to be considered "virtuous", it is necessary to act in good
faith. The relationships’ network should be driven by honest goals and the
activities that are developed should be marked by ethics. Similarly,
entrepreneurs who are part of the network should share by the same token: information,
knowledge and resources. Every one should benefit from what the other brings in
the relationship.
On the
other hand, power should be used in the right way. However, in networking
business some behaviors, such as bad faith, are inappropriate. This happens
when people who are part of the relationship, only seek to take advantage of
others.
Trust is
important and relationships should be reliable. If business networking moves
under these ethical principles the results can be positive.
