No more operational work in human resources

By Raúl Gorrín.-     If the levels of efficiency and effectiveness of your company's human resources department have been reduced, staff may be overstated by functions and tasks, so it may be necessary to put an end to operational and routine tasks which only affect the performance of such an important dependency. There are studies that show that excessive administrative work is acting to the loss of the work of the human resources directorates that have ended by neglecting their strategic functions.

Payroll payments, social security management, holiday approval, permit handling and discharge, among other issues, have ended up coping with the work of HR (human resources) departments, and it is not that we are saying that these tasks are not important, but that these are routine tasks of an administrative nature that may well perform subordinate personnel for HR to devote to the strategic functions that correspond to it. An alternative solution to this can be the outsourcing of the administrative management of human resources.

Every company or undertaking will have to study the option that suits you best, assigning the routine tasks to a certain personnel dependent on the administration area or the human resources department itself can be another solution. Delegating to the officials in charge of routine tasks can be a way of unloading the managers of these tasks so they can be dedicated to the design of strategies and planning.

New technologies also can be the output, as there are more and more applications and tools that simplify administrative processes of human resources, the simplification of processes also can contribute to solving the problem of oversaturation of HR staff functions.

Business reputation is the key for success

By Raúl Gorrín.-     By reputation is meant both the fame and the opinion about someone or something that people have. Meanwhile, for companies, reputation, we say that is the key to success. Having a good or bad reputation will be decisive for brands, as this valuation deprives the construction of the image of the organization. The corporate reputation is closely related to corporate citizenship or Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), and is that a socially responsible company will be similar to a good person or a good corporate citizen, because it fulfills their economic, social and environmental duties.

Specialists in Corporate Social Responsibility understand reputation as the opinion that stakeholders have about organizations. For many, there is a close relationship between corporate reputation and social responsibility, since one can’t exist without the other, without attention, meaning that both concepts are confused. CSR is a necessary but not sufficient for reputation, as a company with a good reputation have to be socially responsible, without CSR suffices for good reputation to occur, and it is that reputation requires, in addition to CSR, other conditions or variables, which precisely will be those that will allow measuring it in practice.

Among the internationally accepted variables are: the commercial or goods and services supply, the leadership that requires having people with a good reputation, corporate governance which has to do with ethical values and sound business administration, corporate citizenship, the quality of work, innovation, the economic results to be reflected in the financial balance sheet, and while reputation is not something that is included in business balances, it has a fundamental weight when it comes to valuing organizations.

Even for some companies it is the biggest asset, even greater than its machinery and equipment, the price at which many companies and corporations have been sold has to do more with their reputation and prestige than with the cost of their infrastructure. Moreover, companies can make huge profits thanks to their reputation, but also a bad reputation can be the cause of big losses or bankruptcy of some organizations, when the quality of the products and / or services of an organization don’t match their reputation, we are in the presence of companies with a false reputation, because despite having much prestige, what they produce is far from having a good quality.

Seven tips for the performances as a freelancer

By Raúl Gorrín.-   Your performance as a freelancer professional requires you to be clear about certain aspects such as: your fees and costs; a matter that is not always easy to determine. The value of your work and your work, can be more complicated than you think and tend to charge less than you deserve as a specialist in the area where you are about to perform, especially for the young people it is difficult to assess their work; the tendency is to be towards the underestimation of their experience. We are going to show you some tips to calculate your rate as a professional freelancer:

1. Conduct market research: It is necessary that you determine how much the rest of the professionals who provide your service in the market charge and compare it with your income aspirations based on your experience and knowledge, it is important to remember that not all jobs are the same.

2. Work according to your needs: However, keep in mind that we are not telling you to charge exactly the same as others charge. You have to take into account your lifestyle, so you need to determine how much money you need to earn to live comfortably.

3. Make the necessary adjustments on the way: Usually freelancer doesn’t know how much to charge, nor do customers know how much to pay, therefore it is possible that at first the tariffs that you handle are not adequate, so as time goes by and complies with different contracts, you will make the relevant adjustments in your rates.

4. Increase your rates: The experience will dictate to you how much the right amount for your work is and the same is adapted to what dictates the market, of course, this won’t mean that you should remain forever charging the same rate and the time will come when you should increase what you charge for your services. These adjustments should be made based on inflation rates, experience, acquired skills, reputation and prestige.

5. Learn to say no: When a customer disagrees with your rate, it is possible for you to make some adjustments, but this doesn’t always have to be the case, you have to learn to determine when to give in to make a rebate and when not to. So, you simply have to learn to say no when you feel that you can’t underestimate your work to the extreme of taking your rates to extremes that don’t correspond with your skills, experience, knowledge and prestige.

6. On what criteria to set their rates: When determining the amount of your rates it is essential that you define whether you will do it by hour, per day or per project. Surely each project should be analyzed to establish what element should be deprived to establish its fee rate.

7. Stand firm: After you have set your rate, it is important that you maintain it. Many freelancers often give in to customer pressures at the first sign of conflict over the moment. Doing it can set a precedent in your relationship with the customer, who may fall into the temptation of wanting to govern your business relationship with you on the basis of blackmail and undue pressure to readjust your service fees.
