Coaching: A new way of naming an old practice?

     


By Raúl Gorrín.- There are many definitions that have been formulated about this process that helps people to reach a goal under the guidance of a coach. According to some specialists, coaching is the accompaniment of a person based on their professional needs, for the development of their potential. Others define it as the process of releasing a person's potential to maximize their performance. It is an activity, a feedback, a conversation that aims at people learning.

     The coach will make questions to explore the belief system, the values, the strengths and limitations. Such exploration will make it easier for you to make decisions and make commitments to yourself and the organization. Is this practice new? If we assume it as a training process, we have to say no. The difference is in the way the teaching-learning process is adopted, which is disconnected from traditional methods and training.

     The coach acts as a facilitator, but also has a leadership role. The role of facilitator is to stimulate, incite and provocative, not an adviser. Among the coach's tools is to build trust, between him and the persons who are being trained. The coach doesn’t give advice or tell to those persons what to do. The idea is to make the discovery. Coaching is in the way of approaching the learning process; it  makes easy the path for professional growth and development.

Emotional control will make you succeed



By Raúl Gorrín.-  What would be the keys that someone can figure as a good leader? For some specialists, the real key is being able to identify their emotions and control them. Emotional control is essential, because they are the cause of well being and they are necessary to face the difficult situations that are presented everyday. In addition, positive emotions make it easy to overcome work overloads, resolve conflicts and solve problems.

     Emotional control improves spirit, allows goals to be achieved in the middle of a healthy environment, with a sense of humor and with good and finding the way out of the unforeseen without being overwhelmed by pessimism. Nowadays, the leader of this century promotes respect as a corporate competence. The new leader should be prepared for contingencies and know that he should know how to identify the emotions of those who integrate his team to be able to maintain the control and prevent the conflict situation.

     It all starts by identifying your own emotions and controlling them, so you can do the same with the rest of the team. Guide the whole group to stay calm and together can find the solution to the problem. Also, the new leader avoids falling into temptations, stays clam to not lose control. It is only from this state that it is possible to advance towards a solution. Apart from that, it clarifies the misunderstanding and seeks to re-orient the member emotionality to prevent it from overflowing.

     Assertiveness allows us to achieve empathy, to be able to give timely responses that foster understanding that brings feedback. The next step will be to recover joy, good humor and make positive emotions are victorious among team members, few words, recover the health of the relationship and restore harmony.

The press release as an important instrument for companies



By Raúl Gorrín.-    This time, we are going to talk about the importance of communication inside organization or the information and dissemination processes that are essential to publicize the companies’ plans and projects and entrepreneurship to the community. The press release is a fundamental tool to inform about the performance and the role that your organization plays in today's society.

     We want to give emphasis to the need to optimize the content of these press releases. There are some aspects of it which you and your press department should be extremely careful. In addition, these newsletters should be impressive to capture the attention of the editorial boards of the number of media, as they compete with the hundreds of press releases and information that comes everyday to newspapers, radio and television stations.

     Take a look of these aspects to take into account.

1)      The title of the press release needs to be original. Try to locate the key word of the information content. When it is located, it should be part of the holder.

2)      Think if you were a client. What you are looking for as a reader when you dip into newspapers.

3)      The keyword reveals the purpose of the information, so this should be part of the title to sell the information.

4)      Then, we have the press release entry, which should recapitulate the main information and news that invites the reader to continue reading and inquire about the fact or situation in question.

5)      The set of basic questions: What? When? Why? Who? How? Where? When? Why? One of them should carry the day and be the center of the news and the relevant fact that is wanted to be known.

6)      Then, answer the rest of the questions previously formulated according to the priority you want to inform. That whole set of information will complement what has been announced at the entrance.

7)      Finally, provide a contact point available for those who wish to expand the information provided.

The importance of distribution channels

    


 By Raúl Gorrín.- An excellent company that develops the best of products and / or services is not availing if they can’t reach the markets and, consequently, the customers. In order for these goods to reach the consumer's hands it should have good distribution channels, which are nothing other than the channels that serve as a connection between customers and producers.

     To establish a channel distribution is definitely a task that should be developed in conjunction with all areas of the organization. During the stage design of the distribution channels, the levels’ number involved, should be established since they are traditionally the manufacturer, the wholesaler, the retailer and the customer. The customer will be decisive when defining the most appropriate distribution channels to reach it properly. It is necessary to take into account the market which they belong, the demographic and psychographic elements to be able to make the decision that corresponds.
    
You have to ask yourself why you buy the client? How do you buy it? And where do you buy it? Also, culture is a factor to be taken into account, since it is not the same to sell in Western society as it is to do in Eastern society. Therefore, the forms, the distribution channels in every case, will vary according to the characteristics of each group. Likewise, the goals of the company will be decisive in the choice of the distribution channel, since it will have to achieve the goals established by the organization.

     The nature of the product it is an important factor at the moment of defining the distribution channel. It is necessary to take into account the value of the product, its size, if it requires refrigeration, if it is fragile and needs special care, if it is perishable or imperishable and many more aspects. Of course, these aspects will have a different impact on distribution costs.

     The areas’ number to be covered with the product and / or service will be related to the demand dispersion and the time that goes by the moment that leaves the factory until it reaches to the consumer. The distribution frequency is important to determinate the distribution channels of goods and as in all processes, communication will play a key role for the good operation of the distribution channels.

The organizational structure at the present time




  By Raúl Gorrín.- Organizational structure is a vital element for any company because it defines the characteristics and the way the business is organized. Through it seeks to establish the authority, hierarchy, chain of command, organizational charts and departmentalization. Nowadays, the dynamism of current time demands an organizational structure that responds to the demands of the market to be flexible and innovative. The contemporary organizational structure is divided into: team structure, matrix structure, project structure, structure without borders.

     Let's take a look of these structures.

1)      The team structure: raises the formation of the business in groups or work teams which the empowerment of every member is fundamental because there is no managerial authority. The group does the job design, determines the tasks to be performed and is responsible for individual and team productivity.

2)      The matrix structure: is a specialist area that is assigned to work on the projects proposed by the organization also, inside this structure every worker reports to the area manager and the project manager.

3)      The project structure: is an organization which workers develop their work by projects. In this model, there are no departments where employees return at the end of the project.

4)      The structure without borders: operate without chain of command, job descriptions, or geography. There, work at the same level, share ideas and identify the best alternatives for the company.

     Now let's talk about the boundaries that exist in organizations:

1)      The relationship between the layers or estates of the organization.

2)       The horizontal limits between the different units of operation of the organization.

3)       The external limits between the company and the environment where the customers, suppliers and so on, are located.

4)      Geographic boundaries are the barriers between organizational units located in different countries. 

This is where self-managed functional teams are organized around the principal business processes.

     In the period in-between, learning organizations are institutions in which a specific organizational design doesn’t predominate, but companies change continuously because all members play an active role in identifying and solving problems.

Be yourself at work

    


 By Raúl Gorrín.- The personality seems to have been blurring as the years pass, so we seem to be facing a uniformed society, monochrome, homogeneous. Authenticity and originality are increasingly scarce as they yield to uniformity that’s why, it is a real challenge to keep the personal seal, the distinctive feature that should characterize every person. So if you want to stand out from the pile, you should maintain the authenticity so you can shine in the middle of the dark. Difficult? Yes. Impossible? It is not.

     Distinguish yourself from the mass and keep those behaviors that characterize you and make be yourself. Society has reached the height of trying to uniform the way we express, it is possible to hear people speak in the same way. Do you and your business want to be one of the piles or do you want to stand out in the market? We invite you to bet on the last one.

      Therefore, the human being essence is something that people should never lose. This will allow printing their seal to the organizations they promote or they are part of. To distinguish from others, avoid being the copy of others. Always be yourself and don’t be afraid to introduce yourself without following the established patterns. This will lead to innovate and create products and / or services that set standards and have greater opportunities to succeed in the markets.

The contract for the services provision

   



 By Raúl Gorrín.-  When a company and a worker reach an agreement regarding the services provision inside the organization, subscribe to what is known as the service contract, which contemplates the course of action that will govern the relationship between the two parts. In this agreement, the worker and the company commit themselves to abide by the terms of the agreement. The worker establishes the commitment to carry out a specific work according to his abilities, knowledge and experience. Meanwhile, the organization promises to remunerate the worker with a previously agreed salary and to provide any other benefits they have established at the time of negotiating the contract.

     In addition, the contract for the services provision raises the exchange of a service. The terms of the service contract should be in accordance with the law of the country which the agreement is signed. Service contracts will only be valid when signed by both parts. The basic components of the service contract can be subscribed between two natural or physical persons and a legal entity, or between two legal entities. At the moment of entering into a contract the parts need to identify themselves with real and true information and what’s more, if they are representatives for an organization, that condition should be clearly established.

     In the same way, it is necessary to fix the duration of the service. It should be considered the conditions of service provision, as well the rules that will deprive in case of unforeseen circumstances or situations that alter the terms of the contract. Also, the way of resolving disputes needs to be established in the contract. The contract for the services provision includes a series of clauses such as penalties that may be incurred by the parts if they break their commitments.

Produce more by organizing your responsibilities

    


By Raúl Gorrín.-  The organization is the key to the fluid of activities. Everything that the human being proposes should do it with order. This maxim of everyday life equally applies to entrepreneurs if they want to achieve success in their business. And it is that there are many responsibilities that an entrepreneur should undertake and, especially at the beginning. It should be very careful in order to reach their goals.

     In this initial stage, the entrepreneur should be aware of multiple issues as dissimilar to each other. Not infrequently, even, you have to carry them out simultaneously. Therefore, assignment planning should be strict in order to achieve effectiveness. For every entrepreneur, productivity is a fundamental objective. In order to successfully carry out each of these tasks, the entrepreneur should organize. One way to achieve order is through the development of a check list which all the pending work should be broken down into a structured form.

     The first thing to do is, to be realistic, that list should reflect the task elaboration that you can realize. Don’t set impossible goals. Take into account, the time that it takes to complete every assignment, rest times, unforeseen times. The important thing is not to lose motivation. Moreover, divide the responsibilities in order to be able to perform them more easily when they are highly complex. Set priorities and delegate tasks to others where your supervision is only needed. Differentiate what is urgent from what is important.

     Set the tasks to important codes and, starting from there, draw up the schedule to undertake them. Set schedules, it requires more order and planning.
