Teamwork: Encourage group cohesion






By Raúl Gorrín.-    Teamwork is more enjoyable, more productive but also requires learning to live with others. Tolerances, acceptance, knowing listening, good communication, are important for harmony and a good environment work. Solidarity, co-operation, fellowship, motivation and cohesion are required among the members of the working groups, so that common objectives can be successfully achieved.

     Group cohesion is one of the most valuable elements to achieve success in teamwork, since it has to do with the ability of people to maintain close connections with the rest of the group. Some practices can contribute to increase group cohesion and are often used by business coaching with a view to increasing the adherence and efficiency of work teams.

     Take a look of some activities to do at work.

1)      "I guide, I trust": the group is divided in pairs which one of the members will be blindfolded and the other, will be in charge of guiding it, either when performing an activity or when he is walking, move from one place to another. This practice builds trust.

2)      Tied feet: which couples will join through the feet. The left foot of one will join with a bow to the right foot of the other. Then, they can operate in two ways to do the exercise, one by turning an instruction to form a row or to make a walk. The other way, is to leave it in the hands of every couple to agree to perform an activity.

3)      Another exercise is that every participant places a blank sheet on the back where others will write adjectives or phrases that describe that person.  It will expose their skills and virtues. Then, everyone will read what others think of them.

4)      Bingo: consists of filling in cartons in which are exposed virtues, skills, questions related to context and equipment. At the beginning of the game, the spaces will be filled with the names of the participants. Who first fills the card sings "bingo" and exposes the results. This is a dynamic that helps group members get to know each other in a deep and better way.

     The important thing about these practices is to carried out, to promote interaction, integration, knowledge and cohesion among the people who conform the team work.

Efficiency, productivity and quality work together for your organization






By Raúl Gorrín.-    There are three fundamental aspects that can’t be ignored: efficiency, productivity and quality. They are key concepts that every company should work with great care and commitment. When we speak of efficiency, we refer to the resources’ management to their proper use. The subject’s philosophy is to do more with less. It is measured by establishing the relationship between costs and the number of units produced with these resources.

     It is necessary to create a culture in organizations where the loyalty values (honesty and respect) can constitute pillars of the company. Those values will contribute to the culture creation of quality at all levels of the organization. Strategic planning is required, including a business plan which efficiency is the norm. Likewise, efficiency implies more sales, market positioning and minimum production costs.

     Meanwhile, productivity is the proportion between efficiency and effectiveness. On the other hand, quality is understood as the degree to which a product and / or service meets the design specifications, works optimally and manages to satisfy the need to the extent that the customer expects it. Also, it is understood as what it gives to this one in function of what it expects and at an accessible price.

     Companies with high efficiency indications, productivity and quality, will be highly appreciated by the customer.

The importance of a safe work





By Raúl Gorrín.-     A vital aspect for business is health and safety at work. It is essential to design and develop safety and health policies so the workers in your organization carry out their tasks with the minimum of risks. For any company, avoiding accidents, injuries and occupational diseases should be one of the organizations main objectives. It should be the implementation of mandatory standards and in accordance health, industrial safety and occupational dangers. Of course, any effort beyond what is required by law is welcome.

     It is necessary to guarantee that every employee is prepared to face the responsibilities that he is required to assume in the company. Be very careful with the handling of machines and work equipment. Before using them, check that the workers in charge are properly trained to handle such machines and equipment to avoid accidents. Also, it is very important to check if those employees are using protection with the machinery and equipment. In addition, avoid the use of accessories that may cause dangers during handling of machines and equipment. The connections should be in good conditions.

     During the operation with the machines and equipment, it is essential to be absolutely focused on the work. It is important that the people who are going to perform the task don’t bring their hands or any area of ​​the body close to the parts of the machines and / or equipment, such as chains, gears, knife-edges and more.

     If it is necessary to make some adjustment or calibration to the machines and equipment it is the maintenance personnel who must execute it. And finally. Check if the work place is in order and clean, free of obstacles that prevent the task from being carried out.
